You must go to you tube and type: creative ads touching heartwarming Thai life insurance commercial, view the video, reflect, and write about empathy and how is it reflected in society? 2.Literary/Non-Literary Writing Online: For this reflection, you will have to view some online writing examples of social media, essays, articles, websites, etc. After evaluating the content and presentation, critically argue how effective is writing online for readers in comparison to the traditional form of writing in print. 3.War and Peace Critic: For this reflection, you must select a topic (Examples: Violence, Abuse, Genocide, Nature, Tranquility, Spirituality, etc.) that connects to the theme of war and peace and locate a poem on poemhunter.com that describes the topic you have selected. Write a reader-response reflection of the reading of the poem and connect it to your research. 4.Traditions and Culture Critic: For this reflection, you must select a topic (Examples: Etiquette, Cultural beliefs or experiences, Food, etc.) that connects to the themes of traditions and culture in literature and explore, argue, and justify your response. 5.Stereotypes and Realities: For this reflection, you must go to you tube and type: Garbage Man-Thai Life Insurance and view the video. Write a reflection on the subject of stereotypes and realities and think about some of the characters that we have read about in the short stories, how do they come to life for the reader through their characterization? 6.Film Critic: For this reflection, you will watch a movie of your choice. Explain the structure for the plot and include the following: Point of view, setting, and character sketch, and an overall reflection of what in the film can be beneficial to society and include your researched review about the movie and an explanation of how it was perceived/evaluated. 7.Music Critic: For the music reflection, you will choose a favorite song and analyze it according to what could be applied to the poetry Interpretation handout and you must include a researched review about how the song was reviewed or a literary criticism pertaining to one of the literary terms you are analyzing; for example, alliteration/imagery, etc. You must also discuss your personal reaction to the song. 8.Fable and Parable Reflection: Read a fable by Aesop and a parable of your choice. Write a two-page minimum reflection comparing and contrasting the themes and symbols, which were evident in both stories. As you analyze the readings, explain how effective was each story in teaching a moral and include your research sources to substantiate your analysis. 9.Heritage-Family History: You will have to write a brief history of a family member/friend and conduct an interview. The length of the interview responses will vary by each question asked, but write down each response in complete sentences. After you have completed your family member/friend’s history, you will write a short paragraph describing what you learned from this assignment in terms of interviewing and how important is the dialogue when writing fiction to non-fiction? 10.Communication Reflection: This is the last reflection, which focuses on an overall experience to the idea of the reading, researching, and writing in this course. Required components for this last reflection include the following: a. How could have been better prepared to complete the course—what resources/tools did you need ahead of time? b. Reflect on three of the course readings you have read for our class and explain if the readings have been “teachable,” entertaining, or both, and explain how? c. What specific aspect of the course learning will you apply to your future writing?
