Professional and Career Goals
FIVE YEAR PROFESSIONAL PLAN/CAREER GOALSCareer planning entails planning for one’s progress through life, for one’s advancement or achievement in a particular vocation. You are envisioning a plan for your own work as a BSN prepared nurse. A nursing career can be defined as a lifelong professional commitment to excellence in practice in which the individual nurse can be flexible in meeting the needs of work, self and family as these needs vary throughout adult life. Be as specific as possible in each part of the plan.I. Education PlanIdentify the educational goals you have for the next five years. What do you want to learn? What educational activities do you plan to select to meet your goal? These activities may be formal educational programs, continuing education (local, regional, and national), journal subscriptions, in-service education, etc.II. Service activities include professional organization memberships and participation, hospital/health care agency memberships, community participation as volunteer.IV.
