Change in Thought Period

Change in Thought Newspaper ProjectThe printed word was an important means of spreading religious ideas during the Reformation, exploration, and enlightenment ideas.  You will create a Change in Thought newspaper, the time period will span from the Renaissance, the  Reformation,  through the Age of Exploration, including the Scientific Revolution, and ending with the Enlightenment.  Your newspapers should have articles/advertisements concerning all of the abovementioned time periods; therefore, your newspaper will not focus solely on the Reformation or the Age of Exploration. Your newspaper will instead focus on the immense change that is taking place from the 1400-1700s. You MUST cover all of the topics in above in bold. You will have 8 articles total, each is listed below.The newspaper should have several required components, including:A title, including date, cost, etc. (5pts)A cover story on one key event from the time period (400-500 words) (15pts)1 storyProvide specific details to explain who, what, when, where, why, and how. The event should be factual but reactions, quotes may be fictionalized, but historically accurate for the time. “Newsmakers” columns on important people from the Change in Thought period(200-250 words each) (20pts)2 storiesDescribe each person’s background, accomplishments, and overall significance in the Change in Thought Period.  Could be an interesting aspect of individual’s life, or a “gossipy” story about their life.Editorials(200-250 words) (10pts)1 storyChoose an issue central to this time period, take a position on it, and use persuasive language to convince the readers of your view. (Reformation, conquest, or rights of the individual–>or something of your own choosing). Advice columns (225-250 words) (20pts)2 storiesChoose a famous person from the time period and write a letter seeking advice about a problem he or she faces.  The problem should be a real issue this person faced during his or her lifetime.Answer the letter with a response from the columnist offering advice on how to solve the problemAdditional parts of newspaper(Include at least 2 of these) (20pts)2 additional partsA political cartoon on an issue or eventA “Milestones” or “Obituaries” page for famous figures(200 words.
