General Information The purpose of the Final Project is to take your written research from the final research essay and present it through a narrated multimodal medium. The idea here is to appeal to different segments of the brain, various learner types, and consider why we make specific rhetorical choices. This is not a presentation summary of your paper. This is a narrated presentation, so you are going to be asked to record your voice over this (not video, just audio). There are a number of ways to go about this, including many free resources that are provided for you on Canvas. The easiest way is to create a PowerPoint presentation and record your voice using the in-program record tool (this can be added to each slide individually), but there are also free resources online like Prezi. You can also record over your presentation using another recording tool (many computers, including Apples, come with them, but you can also use Zoom for this as well). If you need help with these recording programs, your best bet is to do a Google or YouTube search for a guide. The easiest way to host this is to upload it to YouTube (as an unlisted upload, not private or restricted). Then, you can upload the link here. For your Final Project, your goal is to present your ideas and a potential solution using visual media and external resources. Your essay argues that there is a need in this area; your presentation offers a solution. For example, let’s say my topic was on English Education and my essay discussed why literature used in schools no longer interests students. My final project would focus on thinking of a solution to this, such as providing newer, more relevant works for students and also incorporating forms of new media (such as storytelling in video games or in music). Not only would I include samples of these ideas (with explanation) and other tables/charts/figures to support my evidence from the paper, but I would also include visuals that help emphasize my idea, like a picture of diverse student bodies or an image of a bunch of bored students in a classroom. That is, the are linked with the essay topic and add to what the written essay says Visual aids are relevant, informative, and effectively used and explained The layout is organized and easy to follow/read Fonts and colors are clear and legible Narration: The voiceover narration is clear and present throughout Note: If you’d like to use a script, you may, but feel free to speak naturally The narration is between 3 and 5 minutes long Narration isn’t just reading what’s posted on slides. Instead, use the content on the slides as a ‘jumping off’ point for your narration
