Net Logo Model

This Assignment is divided equally between expository and exploratory parts.SIMPLE MODEL – for public health aseessmentPART 1: EXPOSITION (50 points)1. Indicate whether you created a new model or revised an existing one. If you modified an existing model, indicate the source of the original model (5%).2. Describe the phenomenon that the model represents (10%). Here, you should not describe the code. Rather, tell us what real-world or idealized phenomenon the model represents. For example, “This is a simple ecosystem model of predators and prey. Ecosystems of this kind can exhibit a wide range of dynamics, from predator-prey cycles to extinction events. Here, we model Seals who feed on Seaweed, and Sharks who feed on Seals…”3. Describe how the phenomenon is represented in the model. Here, your description should include the agents, the environment, and the main model parameters. Indicate those aspects of the real-world phenomenon that are included. Discuss how they are simplified (15%). For example, “In reality, Sharks might have several food sources beyond Seals. But here, we assume only this single food source.”4. Describe how the model is implemented using code examples. If you modified an existing model, indicate those aspects that you changed and state clearly how you changed them (20%).PART 2: EXPLORATION (50 Points)Here, you explore how the model’s results vary depending on your assumptions.5. Select and describe one index for characterizing the model behavior (10%). It could be the final size of the epidemic, or the number of predators surviving at some time. It’s some model output you are choosing to explore.6. Now select a parameter (e.g., grass grow back rate, transmissions per contact). Make this a Slider with values ranging from a minimum to a maximum in a few increments. For example, a slider with growth rates of 0, 25, 50, 75, and 100. For each such parameter value, run the model once and plot the output. Explain in clear English how the index varies with these parameter (slider) values. (10 points)7. Now explain why the use of single runs as above can be misleading (10 points). Now perform a quantitative analysis by varying the value of your index using BehaviorSpace. Use the index that you chose in (5).8. Describe the BehaviorSpace settings that you used. Paste in the Behavior Space window with all your settings visible. Also, include the dialogue box where you specify CSV or other output. Indicate clearly the software (preferably Excel) you are using to do the analysis and generate the plots (next part). 10%9. Create a plot (or a table) based on the BehaviorSpace output that shows how the index is influenced by variations in the selected parameter. Describe and explain the relationship between the parameter and the index (10%).
